I just got back from a West Coast Wedding. It was a whirlwind of a weekend. I flew in early (and I do mean early—ouch) Friday morning, drove an hour to my Mom’s house, then an hour and a half to the hotel, followed by another hour of driving to the rehearsal dinner. Did I mention that I was traveling with an infant? It was a chaotic day that begged for as much simplicity as possible. I tried to pack lightly and orderly, plan my outfits out in advance and just generally minimize extra time-consuming steps.
Before I left I Googled “packing tips” and picked up this great piece of advice: to minimize wrinkles wrap your clothes in tissue paper. I must admit that I questioned how effective this advice would actually turn out to be but as I had some white (I don’t advise using color) tissue paper on hand I figured it couldn’t hurt to try. I certainly didn’t revel in the idea of ironing before the rehearsal dinner in addition to everything else I had to do. I wrapped my dresses up carefully (very carefully actually, I think that might be key–minimize folds as much as possible) in the tissue (the more sheets you use to cover your clothes, the better results you will have) and hoped for the best. What do you know but upon opening up my suitcase I found my dresses wrinkle-free! I steamed them in the bathroom to freshen them a bit but that was all they called for. It was incredible! (It wouldn’t hurt to tuck a bottle this great stuffinto your bag just in case your garments are extra wrinkle prone, though. You will love the scent and it works wonders!)
So, there’s my Tuesday Travel Tip. Let me know if you girls have any favorite packing or travel tricks or better yet, head on over to the Terrific Travel Tips post at Antique Mommy and share them with everyone! With all the hoops we have to jump through to travel these days I know I can use all the help I can get! Thanks for being such a gracious hostess, Tina!

These are great tips, thanks!
I had heard of that tip too, but never really believed it. Glad to hear from someone who actually tested it! And if you need to wrap a present when you get there? You are set for tissue paper!
Thanks for joining the carnival Betty!
I can confirm that this wonderfully inexpensive trick works wonders. My Mom told me about it and she was right- as usual. I love the picture you posted too. : )
Great tip. I had also hear that one but never believed it. Nice to see someone 'real' has tried it and it works, will add it to my travel ideas folder!
Cheers, Kiy
