Good Posture "Works For Me!"

Since being told that having good posture could make me “Look Ten Years Younger, Ten Pounds Thinner and Feel Better Than Ever” I’ve been just a wee bit obsessed with the idea. Seriously? I can look nineteen again? Now, is that the nineteen year old I was in 1998 who didn’t have children yet or is that me as a nineteen year old with four kids.

What would that look like?

Details, details. I cause myself such trouble. Anyway, I chose to silence the troublemaking fastidious side of my personality and go for it. Heck, all I had to lose was a slouch and a pooch while I stood to gain the hot tamale figure of a nineteen year old! Bring it on!

I watched and I studied and I practiced and I did my darndest to put that disturbingly suggestive triangle in the right place. While I can tell you that I absolutely and without a doubt do not look like a nineteen year old again I actually think it helped. I won’t tell you what my mother said because it’s terribly embarrassing but let’s just say that I did receive confirmation that good posture does make a difference. Now when I take a look in the mirror at the slouchy me of days gone by I want to jump in my bed, hide under the covers and never come out again. Okay, so that’s a bit of an exaggeration. (You’ll have to forgive me, I’ve been hitting the cranberry sauce.) But seriously, girls! I think I walked around looking like a turtle with a beer belly for twenty-nine years! Where were my friends?

Suffice it to say, good posture Works For Me!

Thanks for the helpful video! I will start by not slouching over my keyboard as I type…lol :)

That's great! I used to play piano for a ballet studio, and seeing all those girls with such perfect posture always encouraged me to sit up a bit straighter … (ha, I'm doing it now too … :)

I grew up in a military family and learned good posture as a child – it's something I'm forever grateful that I did learn – it really does make a difference!

Wow thanks for posting this. My posture has taken a quick decline since I was 19! lol I was (married and) pregnant by the time was 20 and since then carrying babies in utero and on the hip for the last 5 1/2 years has taken it's toll on my posture! I will be more intentional on better posture, thanks for the reminder!!
