1) Happy New Year! I hope these first weeks of 2009 have been kind to you! I’m sorry that I didn’t stop by and wish you all well sooner! Several of you have e-mailed me or left comments saying hello and inquiring about my absence (more on that below) over the last few weeks. Thank you! I so enjoyed hearing from those of you who stopped by to say hello while I was away.
2) So, where have I been? Nowhere exciting, I’m afraid. I simply felt a very strong call from God to take a step back from the Internet for a spell to recover from the holidays and focus on my home life. (I’m sorry I didn’t leave a note on the door. I truly wasn’t planning on being gone for so long!) I’ve been spending lots of quiet time with my family reading, snuggling, cleaning, organizing, planning, playing, cooking, and all that good stuff. It has served us well but I do believe this season is drawing to a close as many important things are calling us out of our cloister so I look forward to a return to regular blogging very soon!
3) Do any of you live in North Carolina? Kentucky? Tennessee? Remember that dream of moving to the country that I have? We’re getting more and more serious with each passing day about making it a reality. Those three states have made it onto the short list. I’d love to hear how you like your home state if you happen to reside in any of the above areas!
4) Of course, where we choose to move to will be influenced by employment opportunities for Mr. Beguiles. The job I mentioned here and here continues to be a possibility but a final decision has still not been made. Prayers continue to be very much appreciated. Patience has never been one of my virtues. I suppose this is good for me.
5) I am in desperate need of an evening wardrobe overhaul. I am looking for nightwear that is modest, feminine, and very comfortable. Any recommendations? The nightgowns I’ve featured in the past are lovely but not many of them are well-suited for regular use by a mother of four little ones. I like to reserve those for weekends away with Mr. Beguiles. Wink, wink.
6) We’re selling our house! I am not looking forward to this but I feel confident that it is the right move (no pun intended). We want to be free to relocate eventually and given the amount of time it may take to sell our property we figured we’d go ahead and get the ball rolling. We’ve been feeling gentle nudges from the Holy Spirit to wrap things up here so that’s what we’re doing as we await our next orders. ;)
7) I really have missed you guys! I’d love to hear how you’ve been. If you feel so inspired please leave a comment and let me know how 2009 has been treating you. See you soon!
Stroll on over to Conversion Diary to check out more of these fun Quick Takes entries. Thank you, Jen! You’re the hostess with the mostest!

Yea! So glad you're back and everything is okay. ;-) I've sure been wondering.
Move to KANSAS!!!
Good luck with the night wear. I'm terrible, it's usually t-shirts for me.
I have MISSED you, Betty, and was just thinking of you the other day (and then I said a little prayer, because I was a little worried -- not that something bad happened but, well, that you'd stop blogging -- yes, it's a selfish streak, I admit it).
Glad you're back. Good luck with all the things on your plate...sorry not to be able to help with the nightgown thing. We live far enough north that I'm a flannel or fleece jammy girl these days! (Don't you think OHIO would be grand? I notice it's NOT on the short list...)
I am SO glad you are back! I subscribe to you via Google Reader, and it just dawned on me the other day that you hadn't posted in a while. Your blog is one of my absolute favorites (and I don't have as much restraint as you as my blog list tops 200, yipes), so I am really glad you are back. I don't live in any of those states, but about 6 years ago my husband and I took an online quiz (no joke) that was supposedly good at matching you up with where you should live. It gave us North Carolina, and we came soooooo close to actually moving there (almost contract on a house close, in Waynesville). It was not only beautiful there, but pretty mild weather actually. And we have relatives in Tennessee, which I also love.
I'm so glad you're back! I've really missed reading your posts.
Betty's back! I've missed you. It seems like you have a lot of things going on.
You know, WV is not the first place on most people's minds when they think of moving. There are beautiful rolling hills, wide open pastures, and not many people. Just an idea....
Y'all are too sweet! It's good to be back!
I could do Kansas or Ohio but I'm not sure my Deep South lovin' husband could handle being so far from his hometown. I'll work on him though. ;)
Now, WV might be doable. Brindi, don't I remember you saying something about being a teacher? My husband is a teacher, as well. If you get a chance would you e-mail me at *bettybeguiles at gmail dot com* ? I'd love to ask you a few questions about the schools there. (Of course, I'm assuming you live there--lol.)
Thanks girls!
We missed you, too! (Even though I am an inveterate lurker and I hardly ever leave you any comments)
NC is a lovely state. We lived there for three years while hubby was stationed there with the Navy, and we always said that we'd move back if we could convince my parents to go with us. We have nothing but good memories of NC :)
Betty, when you find out about some good pj's, would you mind posting about it on your blog? I have also been searching for pj's. I'm afraid the ones I have are not all that...feminine (to say the least). But I'm also looking for modest, and also the ability to nurse in them. Pulling the whole dress pj over my head to nurse does not sound like something I'd want to do. ;-)
Welcome Back! Your voice has been missed. Good luck with the move, wherever the Lord takes you. Our family will be praying for you and yours.
Glad to see you back. I've missed you.
Good luck getting to the country. We live on 5 acres and unfortunately have to sell our home (with no luck, of course). We, too, are waiting to see where it is that the Lord wants to send us. Hopefully it will be to another country setting because once you've been out of a subdivision and out in the wide open spaces it is hard to envision moving back!
God Bless
I'm from North Carolina and love it - Highly recommend it. If you'll go to my blog, you'll see that I've fantasized about country livin' too. I think I posted it around the last of December. Anyway, the weather is pretty mild here. I'm about an hour east of Raleigh (I don't like to say online the exact location - safety and all) 2&half from the coast, where we like to vacation. And close enough to the mountain if we choose to vaction there. I wouldn't want to be any other place.
Welcome back! I missed your posts, but understand your reason of absence!
There was a lot of info in this "quick takes"!!! Thanks for sharing :) You and your family will be in prayer.
Two pajama suggestions: japanese weekend wrap pajamas, and Aimee gowns. I own the Aimee and want the JW's :) Both are nursing friendly.
The fabric on the Aimee gown pilled a bit too soon for my liking, but I do wear it all the time. Maybe I should have more in the rotation...
I live in Memphis, Tennessee. I do not recommend it. I actually don't recommend Tennessee at all for the country vibe. There are not any beautiful country towns here. The small towns are ... well not that dreamy. I say the Carolinas, Kansas, Illinois, Indiana, or Kentucky... I especially like Illinois... very country and have a nice little farm about an hour or two from Chicago where you have everything if you get a city-need. Lots of opportunity there.
