A Feast for the Eyes

“Have you ever envisioned yourself back in time….. when genteel women wore delicate lace trimmed camisoles, pantaloons, bloomers, petticoats, blouses, bustle skirts, feather trimmed hats and lest we forget, elegant ball gowns…”

Um, YES!

If you have, too, go wander around Recollections for a bit. (It’s so pretty over there I can’t stand it! Do you think Mr. Beguiles would think I’d gone off my rocker if I took to dressing like this all the time?) After you’ve had your fill, come on over to my place for strawberry cordial, tea cakes and a marathon viewing session of Anne of Green Gables.

Costumes optional.

    Love Miss Anne!

I actually had a phase as a child (with a VERY active imagination) where I pretended it was 1900 and I was a farm girl who had to meet all these challenges. :)

I love the first two Anne of GG movies, but the third is downright weird, when she dresses up like a man and follows Gilbert to WWI. haha.

    Count me in!

AS a young girl and teenager, when I used to dream, I was always dressed like this…it was in this era that I met my husband, took care of my house and raised my kids! And considering I read and watched the entire Anne of Green Gables series multiple times, that’s probably why (It also led to a rather angst-y period with my own mother, simply because I couldn’t get over the injustice that she had given me the middle name Ann, without the E)!

Yes, I love those gowns and the tea parties are romantic to me. They say the gowns are cool because of the breezes that come UP under the skirts and between the layers of petticoats. Then I’m so short that I’d probably always be tripping on the hems!

What a fab website. I wish I could try all those dresses on instead of just looking at them on the computer. I’d be in heaven!! So the answer is yes, I’ve envisioned myself back in time….many many times.
And I’m with you on the Anne of Green Gables marathon. I loved those movies as well as all the books.
Thanks for sharing the Recollections site. I’m definitely bookmarking it.
