The Puppini Sisters

Have you heard of the Puppini Sisters yet? These girls are making my life right now. The music! The clothes! It’s all too much. There’s just nothing like a 1940′s-style girl group to get you through the long, hot summer days. Currently I only own Betcha Bottom Dollar (must make a note to remedy that) but I have it on good authority that their newest album The Rise & Fall of Ruby Woo is every bit as enjoyable as their first.

Take a listen and let me know what you think! What music gets you through the scorching summer months?

While I could do without all of the burlesque influence, their retro style is a very welcome change from the norm. I used to love watching Pushing Daisies for the clothes; very similar to the Puppini Sisters' style.

Haha, they remind me of the Andrews Sisters (voice-wise, anyway)… they do the same song!

    Awesome stuff, man.

Love your blog (found via Conversion Diary…) :)

Some of us don't have that fancy "sound" feature on our computer, so we're not able to do that. The video's cute though!

    Love it!

This kind of music is so fun! You might also like the CD "Swing Hard, Swing Often" by Jason and the G-men. They're my personal favorites!

  6. Lil Red says:

I heard of them through the aurgasm blog – they offer *free* mp3 downloads that are approved by the artists.

  7. Muthering Heights and Other Senseless Sensibility says:

They're awesome! Thanks for letting us know about them! :)

I love the entire era. I would fain have a broad collection of Glenn Miller, Tommy Dorsey, and now the Puppini Sisters.

Over from Jen's (Conversion Diary) blog. My husband and I both loved the Puppini Sisters' video: it's on our "to buy" list. Love your blog, too. Bless you for helping Jen. Rosemary

Here from the Conversion Diary. What an amazing friend you are.

Listening to the 40's on my xm radio now. what an era!

Cute idea, but too fast — undanceable and unsingable. I have a hard time believing RL people could sing it that way — must have done something technical to the recording … ? But it was a cute idea.

You are an amazing friend… with a very strong stomach to go along with your big heart!

Never have heard of the Puppini Sisters… but the music is very catchy and they are as adorable as their frocks.

I've just discovered The Fray… nothing like this… but great vocals and lyrics. Summer always makes me want to listen to jazz though… Michael Buble, Diana Krall.

Here from Conversion Diary – I work in a hospital and thought I could not be grossed out, but Jen's fecal fiasco made my stomach do flip-flops! You are my new hero!

Back on topic, for summer music I like anything danceable, but especially cheesy '90s pop songs, like "Wannabe" by the Spice Girls.

Over from jen's blog. Love the music! Just bought "in the mood" and plan to put it to good use this evening when my hubby gets home!

    Hi Betty!

Long time no blog, eh? :) I haven't commented in a while, but I've been reading and enjoying your blog so much (as usual)!

    This summer, I'm loving on:

    Billie Holiday (love her always)
Peggy Lee (particularly "I enjoy being a girl")
Frank Sinatra (at the current moment "Sinatra sings songs of love" — what other kind are there??)

    and…
Songs that got us through WWII :)

I hope everything is great with you!
