Great article! I have found these things to be true in my own life.

Another secret our grandmother's knew was how to buy the appropriate undergarments for camouflage! I'd like to learn to be more adept at this myself.

You are so right, Lindsay! I've researched vintage "unmentionables" in the past (I am such a sucker for vintage underthings) and blogged about them a bit here:

    Vintage Unmentionables

Please let me know if you find any other good resources!

Thank you, Betty! Those posts are great! I was a theater minor, and my costume instructor was the foremost expert in the Southeast on woman's period underwear (how's that for a claim to fame!).

Needless to say, he insisted upon accurate and authentic corsets for whatever period costume he was designing. I sewed many a grommet during my years there! They really aren't as uncomfortable as one would think (some eras more than others), and wearing one makes you walk more gracefully and with better posture almost effortlessly!

Betty, I meant to add, if you would like, I am still friends with my former professor, and I'm sure he would be happy to chat about his favorite topic with you and direct you to any resources you might need. Lmk, and I will e-mail you!

Just to comment a gazillion times on one post, I'll add that I did notice your real name is not Betty after reading the article, but I'm sure you will forgive me for having a lapse in memory!

Wow. That's so cool! After things settle down here a bit (I don't know if you read my earlier post but life is a bit chaotic around here right now) I might just take you up on your kind offer. He sounds absolutely fascinating! Thank you!

Oh, and you can call me "Betty" anytime. ;)

  7. That Married Couple says:

Very interesting! I linked it from my place.

Also, I read your earlier posts, and wanted to let you know my prayers are with you and your family as well.

  8. Betty Beguiles says:

Oh, thank you so much, TMC!

What a true article, great points and so well said. Also, glad to see your last post on gratitude, I am praying for your family, and would love to help if only we were not in a similar situation. God bless you and your family in your upcoming changes…

  10. Betty Beguiles says:

Thank you, Doris! You and your family will be in my prayers!

I loved your article on F&F!
My Nana was the most stylish dresser in her day and I love looking back at old photos of her.
My Nana saved a lot of her old clothes from the 50's & 60's and my cousin and I loved to dress up in the them. I saved a few things through the years and I have to say the quality of clothing back then was far superior to clothing now.
Congrats on being featured on F&F!

Betty – as I wrote this I was just wondering: "I wonder if that's her real name…" then I scrolled down…but anyways, whateveryournameis…THANK YOU for this post. I've been working on my wardrobe ever since I got married. It's still a work in progress, but I have been looking into finding designer clothes for cheap(er) because I've just noticed over the last couple years & two kids, that I can't wear Target Juniors clothes anymore! They just don't fit right. I love that apple website you put up, I might buy a dress to tie me over, after that I want to sew my own!
