Shabby Sister

Hello ladies!

We're knee deep in boxes and covered with dust (thanks again for the love, girls) but I wanted to stop packing (it was a real sacrifice, let me tell you) just long enough to share some fashion news for those of you with preteen daughters, relatives or friends.

One of my favorite companies, Shabby Apple, has just launched a brand new line for "tweens" called Shabby Sister. I spent some time over at their website this morning and was delighted by what I saw. You should go take a peek. The dresses are too sweet for words!

The girls at Shabby Apple were generous enough to send one of their new dresses to the beautiful daughter of one of my dear friends, Elizabeth. Here is her review of the "Seventeen" dress:

The dress is very comfortable because the fabric is stretchy. When I sat down, it was not super tight. Yet sometimes it was hard to take the dress off--even when the zipper was down. Personally, I love cute and modest clothes. Everywhere I went people said, "That is such a cute dress!" However, sometimes walking in the dress was a little more difficult than some of my other skirts. I love the color navy blue and think it goes really good with the dress. The way you put the buttons on and the collar were a cute finishing touch! I do think the dress would look good with white stripes around the edge of the collar. My Dad said this was his favorite dress on me. I love it and thank you so much for sending it to me!!!

Sincerely, Jewel Henderson (age 9)

Thank you, Jewel! You're a peach!

What Our Grandmothers Knew

Won't you stop on by? I'd love to hear your thoughts on the subject.

Happy Independence Day!

May your day be filled with happiness, love and laughter...
And perhaps even a scrumptious dessert or two...

Warm Fuzzy Feelings

I just wanted to pop in and thank all of you who wandered over from Jen's site, Conversion Diary, for your kind words! (For those of you who are visiting from other places and are a bit baffled by the many "poop" comments you can read Jen's hysterical post here -- she's far too sweet and what she failed to mention is that she would have done the same thing had our roles been reversed.) I don't think I've ever felt so loved! It's so nice to meet all of you! I can't wait to visit your blogs and get to know you all better.

Have a wonderful Independence Day weekend, girls! I thought I'd leave you with my favorite new song from Regina Spektor...

The Puppini Sisters

Have you heard of the Puppini Sisters yet? These girls are making my life right now. The music! The clothes! It's all too much. There's just nothing like a 1940's-style girl group to get you through the long, hot summer days. Currently I only own Betcha Bottom Dollar (must make a note to remedy that) but I have it on good authority that their newest album The Rise & Fall of Ruby Woo is every bit as enjoyable as their first.

Take a listen and let me know what you think! What music gets you through the scorching summer months?
