Pamela Scholastica Fulwiler is here! And she is gorgeous! And sweet! And brilliant! And has a good sense of humor! And is very, very holy.
Ask me how I know.
I’m her Godmother!
Quite an honor, indeed. I love her already.
Being someone who takes Godparent duties very seriously, I thought it best that I send a wee bit of alcohol to the hospital so that those in attendance could properly toast Miss Fulwiler’s arrival.
Alas, apparently such varieties of gift are frowned upon by Labor and Delivery nurses. (Who knew?) The contraband was immediately confiscated and locked away in the pharmacy. If Jen behaves herself the hospital might be willing to return it upon discharge.
What do you say, friends? Do you think Jen’s getting her alcohol back?
If you’d like to contribute you can click my Paypal button below and I will deliver the gift to her with all of your names attached!

I don’t have a Bucket List but if I did “Ride the Waterslide at Citta del Mare hotel in Sicily” would be right near the top. Can you imagine sliding down a waterslide that deposited you in the Mediterranean Sea? Heavenly.
Speaking of the sea, have I ever told you how delightful I think mermaids are? Case in point:
How cute is she? Too bad this print is not currently for sale in the artist’s shoppe. Bummer.
Have a lovely weekend, friends!

Hey! I know a hospital that allows you to bring alcohol, precisely for that reason. No booze for the mama, but the guys can liquor up if they'd like. Just best for them to wait until AFTER delivery. That's usually best. Otherwise mama would probably be pretty perturbed!!! Glad to hear baby and mama are doing well. This is going to be my first time posting Quick Takes btw. Thanks for hosting this week! :)
I'm so excited the baby is here! I love babies! :-)
Although I'm a little concerned that they confiscated your present…..haha. :-P
Yay for Jen's new baby! So excited for her.
Also, that waterslide looks so incredibly cool. I want to go there! Maybe someday.. *sigh*
Those page holder things look really cool! and they are cheap! will be perfect when I can start actually reading again!
And I hope Jen gets her alcohol back :) So funny what happened!
I followed her on Twitter this morning so I could know right away. How exciting!
Congrats to the Godmommy! Welcome baby Pamela!
Hahaha… I'm actually a little surprised that they can just confiscate it like that! What did they think the alcohol was for?!
That slide looks awesome! Totally worth the permanent wedgie.
Wow — that waterslide. I want to go to there.
Thanks for hosting, Hallie! I'm super envious of your godmother duties! :) xoxo.
They had better give her back her alcohol. :) THis is why homebirths are fantastic, no fussy nurses. And sometimes my midwives bring wine.
We've celebrated the birth of the last 2 with a cake baked by the older siblings, With and aunt or uncle's help.
I think the gift idea is lovely. Also, I've sent at least 3 friends to your shopping page this week. (Thanks to Jen of course) Those who can't afford something themselves get their friends to do it so they can live vicariously. :)
That waterslide freaks me out. I wonder if I would be brave enough.
Congratulations to Jen! My little David is only a couple days older than her Pamela. :)
Thanks for the update on Jen. You'll be an excellent godmother!
Glad to hear all went well with the arrival of Miss. Pamela!
What an awesome waterslide!!
Thanks for hosting this week!
Congratulations, Godmother! How wonderful.
Sorry about the alcohol being confiscated…I do hope she gets to take it home with her, though!
That slide does look pretty awesome.
Thanks for hosting and have a great Friday!!!
Well we know those nurses will be having fun tonite!! And congrats on the arrival of your god daughter!! Cheers Sue http://notenoughbutter.blogspot.com/
I'll bet those thumb things wouldn't work with a Kindle…
Congratulations to Jen! Thanks for hosting this week :)
I do have a bucket list, and I am putting that one on it straightaway! ;)
That's so silly that they took the alcohol. I had a beer within the first day after my son was born, and the nurses just turned a blind eye. They did say, however, that my milk came in very fast. Can't help but think that the Stella Artois had something to do with that…
Our baby was born December 30th, and my brother-in-law brought beer to the hospital for New Year's Eve. The nurses saw him bring it in and quickly got him a bucket and some ice to keep it cold! I guess some hospitals aren't as strict as others :)
Congratulations to Jennifer on the birth of Pamela. That basket looks lovely, too bad it was confiscated!
The paypal account is agreat idea. When we adopted our first child, my sister who lives on the West Coast send a "Baby Shower in a box" from all of our friends and family. We were able to buy a car eat that my youngest now uses today!
I can't believe they stole the wine!! I really wonder if that's hospital policy or just at the discretion of the nurses… hmmm… I guess we'll see if she gets it back in the end! I love the modest mermaid image, maybe if you ask nicely, the artist will make the image available?
That thumb thing would be PERFECT for reading while commuting, especially when you can't get a seat on the train! Sweet!
Congratulations Godmama! :) What a sweet gift and I hope that the nurses don't drink Jen's wine!
Congratulations, God Mother! Also, that mermaid print is adorable.
Thanks for hosting the Quick Takes! And how in the world did you ever find out about that water slide?
Yay for Jen!!!
Gosh, I saw that water slide the other day on Pinterest and I was drooling with excitement. I definitely need to put that on our family someday list. Would be incredible :D
How exciting about the baby! Congrats to the mom and the Godmom! To the daddy, too!
We're soon to be expecting, too! Our adoption is almost done!
Sorry for all the pogo stick punctuation (exclamation points). New babies and growing families are my all-time favorite news. I get all excited and happy.
Thanks for hosting today's 7 Quick Takes. Another blog subscription for me!
Thanks for hosting! This is my first time playing along and I really really think new mamas NEED a little glass of wine.
Oh, and I think I'd like those thumb things, because I LOVE my checkout-lane-impulse-buy Avery tabs: http://www.avery.com/avery/en_us/Products/Dividers/Tabs-and-Flags/
Alcohol is (almost) always a good call! Silly hospital.
Congrats to Jen and happy babymoon! :)
That waterslide looks gigantic. I don't know if I'd be thrilled or scared!
Congrats to everyone! Definitely a fitting present to send… hope she gets it back!
That hotel is awesome… adding to bucket list now :-)
Thanks for hosting!
hahah. love the wine story…hilario!!
Congrats to Jen…love the name!!
Thanks for hosting!!
That looks like an awesome water slide! And a very cute mermaid. As for the wine… I'd drop it by her place as soon as she gets home instead of at the hospital. :) Though I'm surprised that the staff went through a box before delivering it to a mom.
Haha! Congratulations, Godmother! I LOVE the wine story. They dispense Vicodin with abandon, for crying out loud! They seriously need to work that twist out of their collective panties. Jeez. Thanks for hosting, Hallie!
Sorry to hear about the confiscation of the wine, but happy for you and Jen!
Also, I think I'm going to need to add that slide to my own bucket list!
Is it possible to delete a link? #60 is directing to my Quick Takes from last week (oops!).
thanks for filling in this week. and oh! that water slide would give me a heart attack – but my boys would LOVE it! :) LOL on the hospital wine fiasco. who knew? my hsuband brought Guinness into the hospital for me. it's great for nursing mommas! ;)
~liz@smithical
I'm also thrilled about Jen's baby! How beautiful that you are the godmother!
The alcohol story is hilarious!! They'd better give it back! ;)
Wow…I really, really want to go down that water slide. Another reason to visit Italy (#1 The Vatican, #2 water slide)
How adorable is that mermaid?
Thank you for hosting, Hallie!
I LOL'ed about the alcohol when I read it at Jen's blog.
I'm sorry, but that thumb thing just looks like a heartbreak waiting to happen.
And I think "unusually modest xyz" sounds like a fantastic line of Halloween costumes waiting to happen!
You're Pamela's Godmother? how awesome? and I didn't take you for the kind of lady that would smuggle alcohol into a hospital!
When I was a Peace Corps Volunteer in Guatemala, the daughters of my landlady would drink a beer to help their milk come in. But no wine for Jen, hm… I think that the hospital folks wanted a drink ;)
I think you win first prize as godmother!
Thank you for hosting and many blessings to Jennifer and her family!
Kimberly wins for funniest comment :)
And what's not to love about a new baby? Many blessings!

I can't believe they took the wine and locked it up. They could simple say it was against policy and give it to Jen's husband or family to take home. Long ago our local hospital didn't have caffeine (against the religous beliefs of the hospital founders) When my DH had some outpatient surgery there the nurses made sure I knew where the closest source was.
#3 and #6 make me laugh so hard. Love it.
Oh to be a godmother! Congrats to Jen and you…thanks for hosting!;)
It's so amazing that you and Jen know each other in real life! I didn't realize that!
I also am delighted by mermaids! They're so whimsical and beautiful.
Congratulations to Jen and family for a beautiful new arrival. Hallie, that is super-exciting that you're her Godmother.
Thanks for hosting 7 Quick Takes Friday this week. I've enjoyed reading your blog at Jen's recommendation.
God bless!
that waterslide would be on my bucket list as well.
Yay for modest mermaids!
